In the Oculi crafting menu there is a 'Tip' button that shows some basic recipes: According to the first recipe, any three Oculi of the same color and size can be crafted into an Oculi one size larger. By the looks of the second crafting recipe, the two primary colored Oculi can be combined into a secondary colored Oculi of the same size.

(Though not used in-game, thesingle form should be 'oculus'.)The glowing switches that Igniculus activates are also referred to as oculi. In our world, 'oculus' is the Latin word for 'eye', and an architectural termfor a circular opening in a building's roof or wall. For more detail, see Wikipedia: CRAFTING OCULIOculi are found in treasure chests and dropped by enemies throughout the game. However, to get more varied and powerful types, you will need to craft them. You can combine two or three oculi at a time. There are two simple rules:1. Merging three identical oculi will create a stronger form of that colour.2.
In my game I equip Aurora with a faceted diamond on the shield slot. That gives her 15% extra exp. However I noticed other characters always catch up and even surpass her in level. On inspection I noticed she requires significantly more exp to level up so she falls behind even with 15% exp boost. (In comparison to other characters.)Why is that? Could more total stat points means you need more exp to level up?
But that doesn't make sense as it slows her gaining skill points. Is she designed like that so she appears more fragile? Can't say I have noticed Aurora level any slower than other characters. In fact the Diamond Oculi's are the only way to change the amount of experience a character gets, as everyone in the party gets the experience regardless if used.I can't really supply a picture without spoiling things unfortunately. But saying that it wouldn't surprise me if there was a mechanic to make lower level characters level faster, as otherwise, if you were a high level and picked up another character in the story it would be hard to try to use them in a party. She definitely needs more exp than certain characters.
To demonstrate take Norah, who levels up to 9X on my NG+ while aurora was at high 7X-8X even with Aurora holding a higher grade diamond for more exp. Necro'ing here but similar ish question.I just started playing but, new party members seem to be a higher level than Aurora. I played up to Norah, didn't really grind much and every character seemed to be about two levels higher. The next time I didn't avoid battles at all cost like before basically, Rubella and Finn were still higher. Maybe as much but, it just irks me my main character doesn't seem to be as efficient as the others.

How much did you guys battle before picking up party members? Was this purposeful?
Is my idea of sufficient level grinding not that of normal rpg gamers, I don't play them often. Other characters joining the party do start at higher levels, but I didn't notice them leveling up faster than she did. In late game she becomes vital when a ton of physical resistant monsters start showing up.
Late game she was really solid both in physical damage and magic damage. And obviously you need her for dark monsters.I played on hard and never had to grind.
But when I saw an enemy for the first time, I didn't avoid them. I feel like people who complain about grinding are either bad/not using good strats or casuals who think you can just avoid monsters all the time in an RPG and not become underleveled.
